We’re opening up the site to contributors. We’re looking for writers who live and breathe literature. You may come from a journalist background, or may be an avid reader. Experience is not as important as a passion for British/South Asian literature and great writing.

Blogs, first person opinion/ think pieces max. 800 words.
Essays max. 1500 words
Fiction max. 3500 words
Poetry no more than six poems for consideration at one time
Features max. 2500 words
Videos/podcasts: max 10 minutes
All contributors will be expected to send a brief pitch of 200 words outlining their initial idea. Any writing must be unpublished elsewhere at the time of submission and for at least three months after.
We expect that as the number of subscribers grow we will be able to pay our contributors. At present The Asian Writer has been run on a purely voluntary basis with no payments to its editor or anyone who has submitted writing for the site.
All regular contributors will be offered a complimentary subscription worth at least £48 annually which will remain active as long as they submit at least six pieces per year. Should you wish to discuss payment for your piece you will need to agree this with the editor beforehand.
All contributors will have a profile on the site with links to their respective pieces, a short biography, a recent image and links to their work outside of The Asian Writer.
Submit via email email@example.com with ‘The Asian Writer submission’ in the subject heading. Please ensure that your writing is in a .doc file and typed in no bigger than 12pt Times New Roman, 1.5 spaced.
Include your name, address, email address and full contact details. Please attach a short biography with web links to your current work (if applicable) and a recent picture. Please address your email to Farhana Shaikh and not Dear Sirs.
Work may be edited before it is published and you agree for us to use your writing on our website and/or in future printed editions.
