Applications open for Belgrade’s playwriting workshops

Applications are now open to join a free playwriting programme running this autumn.

Critical Mass, at the Belgrade Theatre, is for writers aged 18+ from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee backgrounds. The programme is in partnership with with Euphoric Ink and in association with Tamasha Theatre Company and will run from September to December 2018 for one evening a week.

Previous participants have gone on to have their plays workshopped or performed as rehearsed readings and beyond, including Red Snapper by Liz Mytton, which became a full stage production at the Belgrade Theatre in Spring 2016.

There are a limited number of places available, which will be allocated to writers who submit the best work.

Applicants will need to submit up to 10 pages of writing intended for performance. This may be an extract from something already written or something completely new. Applications should be emailed along with your name and telephone number tocommunityadmin@belgrade.co.uk with the subject line ‘Critical Mass Submission – FAO C&E’. Alternatively, you can apply by handing in two hard copies of your submission at the theatre box office or by posting them to the theatre company.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 11 June 2018.
